I am solving the leves in Kali linux. if I download the b1.txt file in kali and save it **** . Its not working, but it happens properly in windows. Why is that difference? is there any behaviour change for that in windows from linux ?

I solved the Basic Level-1. but just to learn why it did not happen in linux?

Any guidance is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Venky

This kind of discussion should be done in the solutions board.

I’m not sure what you mean with ‘****’, but yes, different systems behave differently. All depends on version and settings and what not.

Kali has leafpad I think in which you can open the .txt files and in Windows .txt files are by default set to open with notepad.

Really there is difference between linux way to handle files and filetypes.
Windows can recognize between different filetypes only thanks to file extensions. Funny thing:-)

On other side - “file” is a standard Unix program for recognizing the type of data contained in a computer file. So I spent with this quest only 2 seconds.
for more information try “man file”, or ask to Mr.google http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_%28command%29
