Its good to be back! :D
C might be a nice starting language for programming. You can get a program called CodeBlocks which works as editor and compiler. There are many tutorials how to start maybe you should look them up first. But I don’t think a 3 year old can focus on that..
It’s would be a good idea for the 6 years old to learn more about how the internet works. I mean like the source code teach him what java, html, css, php, javascript, C++ ect ect look like. Then you can later show him so script so he can identify what it is and explain when each language is used for and what they do but keep in mind he might no want or even be interested in programming because i know i wasn’t at that age :) but i hope he is because it is the future :) Good luck

I actually would say it’s better to focus on one topic, so you could teach some webstuff like HTML, CSS and PHP (which would be easier to start with then C I guess) Or you could teach some programming stuff like C. If you do the web stuff then you can easily start with HTML and continue with PHP when they are still interested. Although HTML is not a programming language it might be nice to start with. And if they understand PHP then C and other programming languages shouldn’t be that hard to learn.
I agree ColdV they should start with like HTML and CSS i know it’s not a programming language but its a start and easy to learn and then start on PHP that will keep them going :)

I would suggest simply getting your kids interested in logic/problem solving and simply wondering how things work. If someone has this kind of mind they will slip into programming very naturally.

In addition to what flabby said, I don’t think that they will be good at programming if they don’t want to be good at it. So getting them interested in logic should be the very first step.
Might not be the best thought but you could let them play “Minecraft” and try to get them interested in ‘Redstone-Systems’ which could (if used correctly) lead them directly to logical systems.
Not sure…. but the very first thing about programming is being able to read… Read books with your kids, sing songs, dance and paint…. Artistic sense, imagination, ingenuity… you need this if you want to be the best.
Do your kids show interest in this kind of things? C++ god damn it!

I have kids the same age and i hope later they come and ask me to teach them but i will let them enjoy their childhood first with toys, going to the park, playing with parents not stuck in books or on the computer. If your kids want to learn they will come to you give them a few more years yet and you will see. :)

This sites awesome I really appreciate you guys taking the time to help.
The reason Im going to try and teach my kids code from an early age is because I feel it’s a great building block for life skills lots of reading writing maths and problem solving.
I used to work at the Hardware side of things just fixing pc’s and laptops also setting up networks at schools etc simple I know but I really wish I had of stuck at it as there is a lot of opportunities to be had. anyway below is the sites Im going to work through.
