In order to hack my account you would....
Ok so say you wanted to get into my account on this website , what info would you need. Is it possible to do it just by knowing a person’s Username and Email?
———-Dont worry i’m not trying to hack anyone here just curious to see what steps someone would take.———
Basically im trying to figure out what i would need/need to do, in order to get into someones account. Doesnt have to be HT it can be another website doesn’t matter. :) thank you guys!
I’ve lost my mind and still haven’t found it
There are many ways starting from social engineering, man in the middle attacks, brute forcing, physical access to a machine they use, sending scripts to the website…..the list goes on. The only way to narrow it down is to gather as much info about the target as possible (this should always be the first step). Then dependant on the info you find out decides which type of exploit to use.
This is the 3 ways i would go like Gninja said: social engineering, man in the middle attacks, brute forcing
When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves.

not if you do it right and depends how fast you type. Took me 10min to hack a website database :) with brutal force

Yeah , but i almost required 30 - 35 min but also depends on internet speed too but anyways both are good methods !!!

Djsimon21 i will look into those and see which one works the best with me :). Iamdevil thanks for mentioning ARP poisoning i will look into that as well.
Overall thanks for answering guys :)

Brute forcing isn’t really an option if you can’t dump the database and do the BFing locally… for example a password with a length of 12 characters, containing both upper and lowercase characters, numbers and special chars, would add up to about 43 sextillion combinations. If we quesstimate that you could check 4 billion passwords per second, it would still take over 300 000 years if you were really unlucky and found the password with the last try. If we assume that on average, it would take half of that time, it is still 150k years… not really feasible, eh?
On the other hand: dictionary attacks are a lot faster, but then they will not find every password…
