I’m new to this, telling me to “look in source code for hidden file” , “all the answers are in the source code” , “its a bit of html you need to add to the web address”..
NONE OF THIS IS TEACHING!! Especially the Hints: in the mission area, YOUR TEACHING! not explaining things only a current hacker would understand. Some of the things you say is understandable but not most of it! Because you use your “hacker” explanation. I want you to teach me not say
***“Sometimes extra hidden fields are added to the form which contains extra information for the login script. Again this is very easy for anyone to gain access to as it is clearly shown in the source code.
Sometimes these fields can contain very important information.“***
YOU’RE TEACHING, We need more in depth hints, your telling this to me and im thinking ok, so im looking for the codes in a random pile of text format. Gotcha..
For example, on Main 3
I didnt know how to beat it, I looked at the forms and then looked in the script for 1-2 hours before going to youtube to find the answer, I still dont know how they got up there or how or to find them. Explain more!
EX:****
Main 3
your hint: [[Using javascript to secure your site or to show an incorrect login is very risky, but this has obviously been over looked while coding this page.]]
what your hint should of been:
[[Java script was used to show your login was unsuccessful, This is a major weakness in security which was also overlooked, “there is nothing saying the password is in java however is it visible in the source code since not being protected” Find the random strand of source which has the pass codes in it; Happy Hunting.]]
Not just, ohh they used java and its unsecured find the codes..
I need you to explain to me how things work and how to operate on each level and what to do to get past certain obsticles.
The Truth Even If It Hurts..
Hi @RogueReaper,
First, welcome to HT, I hope you will find you have reach a great community. People here share information freely to help each others. But the thing is there is no teacher here. We will give you a hand to put you on the track but you will have to make an effort. A considerable effort if you are really new to this…
Maybe you could visit the articles section of this site. There is lots of information for beginners in there. First take a look at this tuto and I’m sure you will enjoy more your stay here : http://www.hackthis.co.uk/articles/understanding-source-code
And by the way, if you have to ask for assistance (that could help in your life too…) try to be kind…
Farewell,

RogueReaper just by reading your post I think you just want people to tell you the answers. I think you should try the levels :)

RogueReaper i know the tips arnt always great but the advice someone gives you is only to point you in the right direction (some basic I.T. knowlege of your own is required to compelete any level here). No one here is obligated to teach anyone anything, when someone gives you advice/tip, it was because they chose to help you.

It’s like school, They don’t tell you the answer but they tell you how to find it. Of course it’s teaching!

I’d like to add 1 point too: it’s too hard to find a teacher to hold your hand all the way. One of the most important skills is to be able to find out when you don’t know.

But , why did RougueReaper post this thread in Main Level 4 ???
It would have been great in General Discussion !!!
