Kali Linux
So, I just downloaded Kali Linux. I haven’t installed it completely though. Before I do, I would like to know how it affects my PC upon installation. Kali Linux users, please help. They warned me to backup my PC before installation, but I want to know everything about what it does.

Hi Black00Viking13
How much do you know about Linux ?
Any big changes to your disks should always be a sign to backup as problems can always arise.
Linux is a completely different operating system It has a different partitioning system as well as a different boot loader from windows and works completely different concerning most factors from development to file structure, I’m not going to go into details of what the exact differences are as I would be typing all day
Kali is an awesome OS and has a lot of useful tools, run the disc in live mode to get a feel for the OS and if your that scared of installing it directly to your HDD, install it in a virtual machine like Vmware or Virtual Box.
I have been using Back Track, Kali etc for a long time and it works like a dream although I’m more of a cyborg hawk fan
Hope this helps
@Black00Viking13 : As @weazer said, you probably want to use a virtualization software.
I used a laptop for my Kali Linux system. I found hard installing proved better for me bc I would always have issues using a virtualization. You can set it up where you can dual boot and have windows and Kali Linux on the same computer, there is a lot of information to help install and trouble shoot most issues as well.

@Yuriko I didn’t get that message til now. I already started the installation, right now it’s “Installing the System…” I didn’t install the image for Virtual Box, will this damage my pc?
