are you using a router or your laptop to share wifi? If its a router just enable mac filtering and only add the mac’s that you want to access.

You could take everyone offline (including yourself) if you DOS your own router?

(if someone could confirm that as i have never done it ^.^)

You could be very mean and create a fake AP with the same name as yours and when they"illegally" connect to your network they are actually connecting to a server full of virus mayhem lol

I got these from a post I made earlier:

A good Built-in firewall
MAC address filtering
Remote admin lockout feature
Being able to disable the SSID broadcasting
Access time limit control
Parental control
Restricted guest access

DOS my router? You want me to unplug it from the wall? I did it before… it works @scopes20.

@gloryorb : you should be able to do it from the web interface of your router. Of course it depends on the model…

MAC filtering is useless if those guys pass through the encryption. MAC address can be cloned easily. Harden your router. If it’s already secured, try to use WPA instead of WEP (maybe you need to upgrade the firmware…). Change your password and choose a good one.

Good luck

Yup, with promoscious mode you can grab whatever data within the network. After you get a legitimate mac address, you can change your mac address with it.
So, mac filtering is now secure anymore i think :(

How about using certificates to authenticate your own devices to the WLAN (if your hotspot supports it;))
