What’s a good OS and Laptop to use for hacking? Right now I have a Dell Inspiron and a Windows 8 OS

You don’t need to install another operating system. For hacking you can use a live distribution like BackTrak.
“BackTrak” on Google, click & pick :o)

I’m on windows 7 but have backtrak which i find is enough for me

When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves.

Boot from a USB and use kali Linux or BackTrack :)

Any Linux OS will do but these are purpose built for us :)

If you want to become a hacker you should install Linux to get use to it. I’m sure you should find some site talking about it on the Web… Don’t make me google that for you… ;)

Everything i do other than games and basic computer stuff is on my laptop, say im at an internet cafe and im trying to crack a hash, my samsung NC10 netbook with a 1.6ghz atom just isnt enough, but my PC at home is more than capable of cracking a hash 100 times faster than my netbook. My point is, its not absolutly compulsery to have a powerfull laptop (although it is nice), as long as you have an internet connection, you have Processing power.

Between a downloadable distro and youtube the world is at your finger tips however understanding what your doing and patching the tools yourself thats the end game ;)

If you are using Windows, save yourself the trouble of creating a dual boot. Download a Virtual Machine, and run your distro from there. I personally use VMWare Work Station 9 and have a couple of different distro’s for it. If you get into RAT’s this is also a great way to test stubs without messing your shit up.
