Okay guys in was digging through my closet andn found my old HP laptop with Windows Vista OS is this os copatable with hacking tools? or do i need Backtrak?

Windows And Linux are very different from each other !!!
I think you should have a Backtrack for your hacking purposes !! Backtrack is good , but Kali is better !!
Windows is not suitable >>

you can do little things on windows but like IAmDevil said: :)

When solving problems, dig at the roots instead of just hacking at the leaves.

ya i second what they said i use windows sometimes for this but its a bitch because you ll have to install cygwin perl python etc and a few other things its just easier to use kali

i bake therefore im fried!!

I have to agreen with both of these guys, but I would keep your windows for live environment and install Kali-Linux in virtual. Whether it be USB boot or VMware, either way is your best bet for Kali or BT5.

Technically speaking, that is the only way to install either and have them working at full potential.

I think USB boot is the best option because you can make your USB persistent and still have your main OS to play with :)

yep i would stick with usb for a kali boot as you cant really do any wireless stuff in vmware

The optimal solution, in your case, is to download the version of BT5 for VMWARE Player, as already suggested tOxicWast3.
But before you make full use of the capabilities of Metasploit is important to acquire a good basic preparation, otherwise you risk getting lost between modules and payload … Good work!
