ok im going to be setting up to seel some software i have been working on etc all that shit how do i set up bitcoin safely so i dont have to worry?

i bake therefore im fried!!

I’d say have a wallet on your computer (locally) and don’t use online wallets as they could be hacked or be fake and never give anyone your private key, always keep a backup too. As for safe payments you could use an escrow service if you feel someone might not pay you :) Though again find as much information on the escrow service as you would be trusting them to complete the transaction. There’s loads of good information at bitcoin.org. Other than that just use your common sense as a lot of people will try to scam you, I’ve found bitcoin/litecoin etc attract those types of people :P

Bitcoin was just made an illegal currency by the United States government, so if you live in the US bitcoin is a VERY bad idea.

i think you may be misinformed about it being illegal in the united states they3shut mt gox down because they are theives hiding data of money from the us government and the irs so they got what they deserved you cant hide money in the usa its a known law you especially don’t try it digitally lol but the matress is fine

Yeah Oxide is right, it’s not Bitcoin that’s illegal just MTgox.com that is having issues with the US. But to answer your question Oxide, yes someone can steal your wallet if they have your private key or hack your online wallet, and depending how they achieve this it could be very difficult to find them and getting your wallet back would be possible using a backup but the likelihood is they will have already transferred your Bitcoins to another wallet. Just keep your private key private and you should be ok :D
