Hello reader,

I dont’t really know where to put this thread, but I think this forum is the most appropriate.

I have a question to any of you who are reading this, if you might want/ are able to help me out a bit.
In the Netherlands, where I live, everyone has to make a big project in the last year of highschool. I am doing mine about the speed of internet and how to improve it. I, myself, didn’t how internet worked and I have learned a lot already, partially cause of this website. But it is because of my lack of knowledge that i cannot validate any of the sources I use, neither can I say if my interpretation of what I have found is the right one.

So my question is, is there someone that could give me any source or any queries I can search for, to get a better understanding of how the internet itself works?

Every little help would mean a lot to me!

My English might be a bit off, sorry for that :P

How is improve the Speed of Internet defined here ? Hardware or Software side or both ? For that you need knowledge of TCP/IP,
HTML, Servers, DNS, Rootservers, ISPs, Data Transfer, Hardware like Routers, Telephones, Distributors, Networkcards, Wifi-Cards. Knowledge of all Server Software Systems, the OSs with TCP/IP compatibility etc. In fact your Topic is more somewhat for Universities that work on this for decades. But you could very roughly build a concept of “how” when you look at something like i2p that basically works like a giant Torrent for the complete i2p network.

Thanks a lot for responding @pandadystopia !

I am not really sure yet, but I think I will keep with just the Software, given the lack of time.

I have yet found that probably the easiest way to explain how the internet works is via the OSI-model and I think I will center my project around this model.
I will definitely research the stuff you send! I’ll just look how deep I can dig, before I have to hand it in.
