Hi All

Haven’t been round here a while, hope your all OK.

Got a problem. My Best mate, a female has stupidly put some topless pictures out to a “boyfriend” and he now wants cash or he will publish.

Got a couple of email addresses, one yahoo and the other a gmail, also a skype handle.

Any advice on how to find a geo location for blackmailers?

Thanks and all the best.

I don’t think hacking is necessary to find out where an ex boyfriend lives if you have his full name.

You can find the ip address of skype users, but unless they have an open service running and/or isn’t using a firewall (which windows has by default), then it’s going to be difficult doing anything else over the internet. You pretty much have to get physical access to his device to get anywhere, or trick him into downloading a virus of your choosing.

And to answer your question: No, you can’t find the exact location of someone just by having his IP. Only his city, or maybe his neighborhood. If there is, I would be very interested in knowing about it to.

And Im guessing these guys are pro so probably behind a vpn but from skype you may get the country /city? do you think?

Why would you assume a blackmailer is pro? Pro’s tend to have better things to do than blackmail for pocket change.

Now that of course isn’t going to stop him from using a VPN, and if that’s the case the ip will be worthless. But if you find the IP to his home, it will lead you to his provider which will show you which city he is in. The provider will not give you any further information without search warrants. That said, going to the police about blackmailing isn’t exactly a misstep either.

She lost a husband a few years ago was lonely, vulnerable and she was chatting online for ages all her mates saw it coming but you know how people are, from the story Im told it just fits in. but they have really taken their time to reel in a fish.
As far as John Law - I guess your right suppose one again it depends on the country.

Thanks for your time and considered opinion.
