Why Did You Start Hacking?

0

According to Dr. K some of the main reasons people hack are the following:

  • Access mainly the need for access to restricted information;
  • Exploration / Hackers curiosity wondering how you can get here and there; what kind of information will be there waiting for you;
    • Fun hacking is a good way to kill the boredom if you enjoy studying systems and networks security;
    • Showing off very popular among young people. It is not a very good reason, but I personally think it is a good enough reason as long as those people keep developing themselves and also at some point find more reasons to do it.

I am sure most of the users of HackThis!! will find what made them so passionate about hacking in the list above. I would like to know what else could give a person the motivation to start hacking?

So, give me your reasons, people! Dont be shy :P

The main reason for me to learn how to sneak into a system is to avoid those mistakes in my own scripts / programs.
But of course it can be fun to show an admin how messed up his site is…

I always wanted to know how things worked, so I took apart electronic devices. As I grew older, the same applied to network infrastructure, applications and web applications. I can’t really explain the why, but especially with web applications I get “an urge” when I see input fields or GET parameters….. :)

For the main reasons above, to access certain information, because of curiosity, to kill boredom and to prove that it can be done. However these aren’t the only reasons, there are other reasons why I (and others) decided to start hacking, for a similar reason to Anonymous, I hate politics, but politicians are not actually my primary targets, it’s other people in particular who are my primary targets. I agree with the saying, “what goes around comes around.” That is one reason why I decided to start hacking, plus the main ones above.

We do not forget.
Expect us.

Another reason that @ColdIV touch on that would also apply to myself is education. While building my own applications I have been looking at ways that people could exploit them so I can protect better against potential vulnerabilities.

Well i began, on a quest for revenge against my local government and to access alot of restricted information.
From then until now, i have done some reading and seen that, if you begin with bad intentions, then YOU ALREADY HAVE FAILED.

Now seeing that i was on the wrong path, i feel better i have found the right path before it was to late or i was in jail for being an idiot.

Anywho, i became interested in Computer Security about almost 2 years ago. I thought it was interesting, but i was to lazy to actually get up and learn protocols … etc. Now that i am, the only regret i have not beginning this adventure/career earlier.
I am very happy about, creating new things and learning and be better than most people and thinking.

I encourage anyone who wants to Learn and help out the “Hacker Community”.

now i am not saying be GOOD, because myself and other people should know that you cannot force anyone to be good or bad but they have to find there own way. I expect you to go the same.

“By the way, if anyone wanted to know I AM A GRAY HAT. :) ! HaPPY HaCKING !
