Friend medal suggestion. | Defend the Web

This may sound ridiculous, and I may not be the only person to have this suggestion, I was wondering, what would you think of a “Friend” medal awarded once a new member gets their first friend on HT? Perhaps another “Friend” medal for gaining a certain number of friends for example, 50.

Yeah and ANONRA up there too with 773 :) Only problem with that. Some numb-nut might sit at his little machine for hours building his own friends list and keep adding them just to get the points. There is a lot of that on here with multiple forum posting. Checking his IP won’t stop the fraud either as it is easy enough to change your ip address. :)

I actually don’t know why that would be good. Rather for Karma then for friends since you just have to spam requests to gain the friend medal whereas a medal for Karma represents the effort of a member. Such a person probably helps a lot which is more worth then pressing a button on a profile. Besides that those medals are a nice thing but that’s not really what the site is about ;)

Well I didn’t actually say it would be good, it was only a suggestion. And I didn’t say it had to be worth any points either, if it wasn’t worth any points then maybe some users won’t bother spamming for them.
