Internet cut off across Syria

The internet has been cut off and mobile phones have been disrupted in Syria. Local reports suggested that the internet had been down since early afternoon, and that telephone lines were only working intermittently. The Syrian government has blamed “terrorists” for the disconnection.

According to its systems, access was disconnected at 12:26pm local time (10:26 GMT).

Over at Cloudflare they have been monitoring and visulising network traffic from syria passing through their network. Below is a video of those network routes:

As expected the outage has been followed by military action and clashes with rebels.

It is now enabled again but it’s quite obvious why they had cut if off. All those actions with the military forces and rebels is far from dangerous and also they are not in position to suffer any online attacks.
