Flood Update

Yesterday, I was down in a suburb helping a friends sister and her family clear out the house ( mv */ /dev/null ) . The devastation that Harvey brought to that neighborhood is saddening. I saw one house that looks like it had a bomb go off in it. The piles of rubbish that lined both sides of the streets us disheartening. The flip side was the droves of people delivering food, snacks and cold drinks to the affected neighborhoods reaffirms the love of our neighbors. The rain we received during this event equates to the amount of water pouring over Niagara Falls for 15 days or supplying New York City for 50 years. I heard one that said it would have covered the United States in one inch of water. The spirits if the people that have lost Everything amazes me, smiling and laughing interrupted by moments of confusion as they are forced to throw away years of memories.

It really is devastating. It is times like these the a community needs to put aside petty differences and work to rebuilding what has been lost. I am glad to hear the community is working together and it reminds me that when faced with hardships we are able to help. The word help is often forgotten as people live in their bubble lives and do not want an external factor to threaten their security, that being in part as to why I believe I am on this site. A community is only strong when faced with a common task or common enemy and to see the victims of Harvey helping each other brings a warm smile back to my face. I wish a quick recovery to everybody there and all the best in the future endeavours.
Best Wishes
