What's your favorite operating system?

try linux , like for beginners u can use ubuntu . or can try any other u like .

i have only used ubbuntu , RHEL , kali linux , BT5

The options for operating system will range from BSD/FreeBSD,Linux, that is if you not want to go with a paid OS.
Those 2 options will perform almost the same, and will have to deal with them almost the same.

now if you want better support in case you faced some problems, linux is the way to go.

for a start you can either go with ubuntu/kubuntu/xubuntu/lubuntu, or you can give linux mint a try.

all those are easy to setup and handle.

when you get more into linux you can go for other distros as for your needs.

for me (if i have the time to set everything up) i go from tiny core linux and build on it.

if not will go for ubuntu on my desktop and lubuntu on the netbook.

also note than in some rare cases ubuntu does not detect the wireless driver on my netbook yet lubuntu does.

so you might end up trying few before you find something that gets every thing working right (that is rare but can happen).

now after you try those, you can stick with the one that performs better with your hardware (either better interface or better response time).

Personally I use windows and I have found it perfect for what I use it for. But if you want to go away from windows then go with linux ubuntu to start with or if you really want to just keep looking at the linux distros until you find one that suits your needs/style.

I am using Windows because I found Internet Explorer 6 is very interesting - the best browser ever!!!

i do not hate windows …
i hate its not open source …
if i have to pay for it i do not care, as long as its open source.

not being open source = too many bugs, not many coders to fix them.
that is why my machine never lasts more than a week with windows installed … it crashes.

yeah you are right , bbut for comman people it is good for them . my windows , has not crashed for 2 years , still working fine , but slowly i dont know why , before 2 years it had beteer performance than today . maybe windows has made it slow ??

mainly its the registry.
the guys at microsoft do not like having configs in files like in linux …
but guess what, they did just that with IIS 7.
its not that great! but its much better than older ones.

i have question ?? microsoft is paid, they earn by theire services. how ubuntu earn money apart from their devices . or they earn by their services ??

they have some paid services, donations, not really sure, but do not look at ubuntu or any other linux distro the same way you look at microsoft.

not that much of what you call staff…
+90% of all things in any linux distro is community based.

everyone does it . who the hell buys original cd’s . i dont have so much money . i only have my pocket money

i do not have a credit card for online shopping, nor many places to buy original CD’s from …
and even if i did, i will not be buying songs … ill buy a RAM or a GPU …

Yeah, no joke. I understand why people do buy music, but I’d rather just put the money aside and save up for something like RAM, or a headset or a new mouse :)
