My friend is having trouble getting his headset to work with Skype. When he trys to call someone on Skype he gets the error “Can not detect your sound card” even though the mic and speakers are fully functional whilst listening to music and recording sound through the mic locally. It is just Skype that is the problem. I cant figure out for the life of me why it isn’t working.. I have tried his headset on my pc and it works fine.

Uninstall drivers, restart , try again.

Tools/Options/General-Audio Settings, choose the right speakers (you can test to see if chosen correct)

Linux or windows?

in linux you will have to choose the input/output specially if you are connected to a monitor through an HD cable.
in windows could be the same … but i do not know since i do not have it.

Tried both of them? Al drivers are installed and up to date, there a no unknown devices.

This is one of the reasons why i do not use windows, everything is supposed to be working fine, yet it does not …
and you never know why!

Yes i have restarted…. Many times. and @ adiga It sounded promising but it only made it worse. when he tried to call me on steam (which does work) he wasnt able to hear me there and skype still didnt work. Thanks for trying though
