i would not recommend any books, many websites offer better example tutorials, besides, some may even contain users questions/examples… will be better than a book.
try starting with w3schools.org or do some google search.

P.S: this is what ‘I’ think is better

Give Codecademy a chance. And this is the official HTML5 documentation (It is full of stuff but not so easy to read).

I recommend going through Codeacademy tutorials since it can be completed fast and then try w3schools for a more complete documentation.

I would agree with the Codeacademy suggestion, I have just started doing their PHP tutorials, it has a great format.
When I was learning HTML i used NewBoston’s tutorials on YouTube, found them great also.
Best of luck :)

I would generally recommend using online videos for learning as it provides some sort of visual context with many different people explaining the same thing from different points of view. However if you are looking for a good book to read i would recommend this.

It is my fav site for learning, although it does help to learn different things from different peoples perspectives to obtain a broader understanding of the subject. Its really up to you, and how you learn best.

You guys should know another point of view about W3Schools.

Any recommendation? Yeah, I have a ton if you really want to learn something:

Well it might not be 100% up-to-date with the latest HTML5 standard, but it provides a fairly stable knowledge base.

@TaaRt: I just want to show another point of view. In fact, I recommend using W3Schools as reference as long as it is still right.
