First I use Microsoft Windows XP [version 5.1.2600]

I want to end a process named “spoolsv.exe” with a batch file or with cmd. Went I write this:
tskill spoolsv
I get this output:
The process could not be stopped for spoolsv: Access is denied.

Have you any idea of another way or another command to end this process?

Routine question; do you have sufficient permission?

@crypticvoid -> I already read this but it’s not very helpful because taskkill isn’t recognise in XP (for home, not pro) and haven’t the same parameters as tskill. But thanks anyway

Yes it’s my own computer ;)

I am logged onto a normal user mainly and log in to the system admin if I need it’s permissions frequently, it often made me forget the cmd I opened wasn’t running with admin priveleges.

It’s worth noting the system has a built-in admin account with acces to anything on windows 7, not sure about that on windows XP though.

Is it as simple as to run it as a system administrator?

may i know why exactly do you need a batch to stop that?
anyway ‘net stop spooler’ should do the job

Yeah like jnpa said its a service so net stop should work. Also you can try services.msc and then find the service and then stop it from there and also you can disable it so when the system starts again it won’t automatically start unless there is a group policy assigned to the system or to the user account.

Click start > Run > type services.msc and press enter.
