I think it’s a combination of both. Also, I personally view the forum more as an archive of information regarding the topics on this site. So I rarely have anything to add.

I advise against closing the forum because it’s still the best way to keep up to date with hacking issues AND discuss them with others if you’re not sure of what you find. Also, it helps people get up to date with the site itself, if they’re away for long periods of time.

Having a chat will have most people migrate there, for instant discussions and information. But the forum is good if you wish to refresh your memory without disturbing others or having to search a lot on a certain topic.

P.S. I miss the news section of the site (where we sometimes got articles off of different security-oriented sites).I feel it gave people reasons to talk on the forum a bit more :P

maybe the site should give lessons like in Codecademy.com since most of ppl who come to this site hoping to learn Hacking dont know i thing about HTML or PHP n other languages , this site puts all u know about programming languages in action ! and teach u how to use your knowledge not give you knowledge … so basically they didnt learn a thing , result : delete user and leave the site .

yes we need tutorials

Hacking is the art of exploitation, as people said. IMO, it heavily depends on curiousity, knowledge, creativity and experience. As many aspects in life, you can’t teach someone how to do things because you already did them.

To attract people, maybe we can hold a monthly event based on forum. But it does require a lot of time to develop and to contribute.

I am not sure if it is to close the forum or close a thread. I personally got 2 posts in the forum to close two threads which ai did cause it was getting too long. Flabby has done a great job of putting the option of closing the thread in the forum section.

@tlotr: I think @roun512 is talking about the forum and how to improve it. IMO, the forum itself and its member are good enough.

I'am not saying i want to close the forum lol , iam just saying about what are people saying in the IRC :) and yes @freewind1012 , i'am talking about the forum and how to improve it :)

Cmon guys the site cannot go like some people want it to go !! I think the forum is the best thing this site has !! Having forum helps everyone expand the knowledge in this field !!
And also might tell us things we never knew . ?????

I just thinking what happened with ex chat,it was cool one.
When forum is about,i think need more serious peoples who will write serious.
Usualy it’s only posible to read how that/this tool working and where to download,but in programing category can’t too much read.
Whole website is done more than great,but missing writters.

Good point, @Voorm . This forum needs more writers, indeed. It don’t need to be a magnificent paper, but we have to contribute posts/articles to make HackThis!! become an easier learning curve for newbies.
