Here’s a good way to upgrade the PlayStation 4’s hard drive.

This week during CES 2014, Other World Computing released a hard drive upgrade kit for the sparkly new PlayStation 4. The company says that this kit will not only add capacity, but boost performance up to 40 percent faster than the stock drive, thus reducing system load time.

“DIY bundles include everything needed to upgrade/replace existing 2.5 inch drive and transfer gaming data to new drive,” reads the company announcement. “For added value, the original drive can be converted to an external drive, using the included enclosure, for new use for data transfer, back up, or portable storage for your computer.”

When gaming downloads reach 50 GB at a time, a factory hard drive fills up quickly, the company points out. Plus, according to Sony, this is also a user serviceable part that will not void the PlayStation 4’s warranty.

The kit includes an OWC USB 3.0 Express 2.5-inch SATA drive enclosure (black), an OWC USB 2.0 Flash Drive for PlayStation 4 download, a #1 Phillips screwdriver, a high quality double shielded USB 3.0 (mini-B type) connecting cable, a carrying sleeve, an OWC USB 3.0 Express enclosure installation guide, and an instruction guide.

The kit comes with 1 TB and 1.5 TB hard drive options, and 240 GB and 480 GB SSD options. Pricing starts at $99.99 USD.
