Coursera is an education company that partners with the top universities and organizations in the world to offer courses online for anyone to take, for free. Our technology enables our partners to teach millions of students rather than hundreds.
They currently have 2 Crypto classes:
One made out of 2 different modules (crypto1 and crypto2, lol) from Stanford Uni
and
One from University of Maryland

Now I’ve been watching the lectures (video lectures FTW) of the Stanford’s first module in my spare time, and it appears to be quite interesting.

If you are interested in stuff like that and have the time, this is their site. It requires an account, but everything is free.

Of course, there’s other stuff to be learnt from that site, so look around and enjoy!

Small update:

Stanford’s Cryptography 1 will start again on the 1st of April. Completion of these courses will result in a certificate from the tutors of the class, so you could actually use these courses in real life, “legally” :)

If you are interested, this is a link to the course itself.

PS: we might be classmates :D

Thanks. I get it now. However, if it is free, is it legal / good for employment?

Yes, perfectly legal…just go on the site and read about it. They have all the details there. SOME courses don’t provide you with any certification of completion. The Crypto from Stanford does, however. :-P

I strongly recommend the coursera Cryptography courses. Check them out, and if you are bored after a few first lessons, you don’t have to watch them all..

@kapuccino: sure; even if I had similar classes at uni, it’s a bit different approach and I have to say that I enjoyed the courses.
