Useful Tools/Utilities and Plugins for Web Browsers
Hello HT, it’s been a minute and I thought I’d drop in and write/start a useful thread about plugins/add-ons for our browsers. The main criteria is
“Does it have to do with”
[] Hacking
[] Programming
[] Security
[] Encrypted Chats
Not looking for cool in browser mmorpgs or anything. As long as it covers either those four or can be closely related to hacking and security, then that’s perfect.
In order to better secure ourselves online, help us in our line of work, web development, and beyond.
Here’s two to start it off
CryptoCat
Cryptocat is a fun, accessible app for having encrypted chat with your friends, right in your browser and mobile phone. Everything is encrypted before it leaves your computer. Even the Cryptocat network itself can’t read your messages.
PERSONAL WARNING: it’s a good tool to keep your online chats between friends secret and secure, BUT once any obscure keywords are detected you will be banned and some fishy network activity begins to occur. Just a warning, so use at your own discretion.
Dark Side Of The Prism -This is an interesting one
“Dark Side of the Prism” uses Pink Floyd’s aural prism (Dark Side of the Moon) as a playlist to the NSA’s tracking efforts, serving as an auditory reminder of how our online activities are surveilled.
When visiting any URLs that have been (publicly) targeted by Prism, a small notification will appear alerting that this site is being surveilled. You will then be presented with an ethereal Pink Floyd track from the “Dark Side of the Moon” album.
Haven’t tried it yet but I just downloaded it and am going to mess around a bit with it.
Cheers!

@MaxLockhart : Thanks for sharing.

Its good to be back! :D
@MaxLockhart: I am waiting for your next list. These 2 add-ons are interesting, but I don’t need them right now. :p
Dark Side Of The Prism seems to be a very nice one !
Thanks for sharing @MaxLockhart :)
@freewind1012 I was kind of expecting people to submit their own add ons therefore I wasn’t going to post any more until I see that some of mine aren’t mentioned. For example, I use firebug. I have a good feeling that a lot of people use firebug as well. So I don’t want to take the fun out of it for everyone.
@MaxLockhart: Then wait, I have something to introduce. However, these add-ons which I am using are like baubles on the Christmas tree. :p
I’m sure everyone who uses chrome should have this, but if not
is a great thing that can sometimes come into goof use, it’s easily found in the chrome web store and it is 100% free
Also if you want to encrypt anything on the spot, I find that Hasher
is a great thing for chrome since you don’t have to open any new tabs or windows to go to a website to encode most things.

Another goof thing….but I guess , I have it so…..
The User Agent Switcher
Info :
User Agent Switcher is a plug-in for Mozilla Firefox, which will allows you to configure and change the User Agent on your browser.
In fact, when you surf the Internet, all user information that you follow and which are detected by the sites visited are included in your browser, and its engine version and platform used. It possible for you to switch or change user profile if you wish to keep your anonymity on the Web.
User Agent Switcher module also gives you the ability to surf the Internet Explorer or Safari if you use Firefox.
Haha its becoming a collection here!
Here’s one from me, its called AnonymoX.
The link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/anonymox/
Its a nice addon but with those ad popups. There is a paid version too. But I don’t think anyone pay for that! :p

Its good to be back! :D
IAmDevil, did you try using adblock to block the popups? It solves these problems most of the time
And here’s the user agent switcher if anyone is using chrome, you can go into settings and add your own user agent (hint hint basic+ 2)

Its good to be back! :D
Well if anyone else is having problems with ads and popups here’s the official adblock download link, 100% free and very useful against those annoying ads, works on youtube ads too so saves you more time compared to clicking Skip Video all the time
literally just a click of a few buttons to download :)
+1 for AdBlock (AdBlock Plus if you are using Firefox). This one blocks almost annoying ads content.
Ghostery is a nice add on too.
It enables its users to easily detect and control web bugs which are objects embedded in a web page, invisible to the user, that allow the collection of data on the user’s browsing habits. Ghostery also has a privacy team that creates profiles of page elements and companies for educational purposes
