Quick question everyone. I have noticed this little white box appearing on almost every website I visit. It pops up and then slowly fades out. Anyone have an idea of what it is? It’s always in the same spot. Looks like an image should be there no?

Have you tried reproducing it on other browsers? I’ve never seen it before and the fact that it appears on almost every site might mean it’s a small browser bug…(interpreting a portion of code the wrong way)

I’ve checked it on my FF but I am not getting that white box. I tried without signing into google account and then tried it by signing into google account but both the times it didn’t showed me any white box. I am on Windows right now may be it would be a Linux thing. Anyone else who is using Ubuntu can check it out whether they are also getting the same thing.

@MaxLockhart try giving us ubuntu version, FF version, etc…

You could also try checking the code, as Hackay said…

I have nothing saved on my system whatsoever, Ubuntu has been running 12.05 for 6 months now. It doesn’t really affect anything significant. The reason I’m curious is because I’m suspecting spyware in which another user on this site agreed with another issue I had where my browser was sending information elsewhere. Piss poor written spyware though because it was displaying chuncks of html it was using on the pages. Idk though, this little box shows up as google stuff as far as I remember from checking it yesterday. I just got off of work so I’ll go ahead and post it in a minute.

<div id="prism-prism" style="position: absolute; top: 10px; left: 80%; z-index: 9999; opacity: 0;">
    <img style="width:75%; heigh:75%;" src="http://66.228.34.242/audio/picon.jpg"></img>
</div>

Okay, it says something different now. I think I may have inspected it a little too late after it faded out. From the ID name I know it’s for an add-on that I downloaded called Prism, which detects NSA activity on websites. But the image isn’t showing up and a Pink Floyd song should be playing as well.

Have you seen the website we reach when going there : http://66.228.34.242
Seems to be not good at all, if you know what I mean…

No I don’t know what you mean. Justin Blinder though is the developer of the app I downloaded here.

edit

It’s weird the website is an ip address rather than having a domain name for somebody with a big name y' know.

Oh wait a minute… Took a minute to read that through a couple times. Now I get the bad part. If this is Justin Binder then, damn this guy doesn’t mess.
