Coordinated raids in 19 countries lead to the arrests of webcam hackers who use Blackshades, a remote access tool (RAT) that allows users to break into social media accounts, spread viruses and obtain sensitive information from users around the globe. Kyle Fedorek, 26, of Stony Point, N.Y., and Marlen Rappa, 41, of Middletown, N.J., were rounded up and were expected to be in front of a judge Monday afternoon.

This is a link from the FBI. Basically it says how to check if you have it.

Unless if I overlooked it, they didn’t say how someone gets this. But, it sounds like you have to be stupid enough to download it and install it.

Here is a crappy video I made to show you how to check your computer for this

Well I didn’t check the other links but the link from @crua9 gave me one vital piece of information which I already suspected:

Blackshades malware affects Microsoft Windows-based operating systems.

I’m safe :)

@sabretooth

The only reason why this is attacking Windows over everything else is it’s going after Windows files like CMD. It maybe possible to get this virus running on OSx or Linux (giving the person is stupid enough to install it).

Indeed but that would mean also having to set the executable bit locally. Much more than a double-click :)
