Windows login

I’ve a laptop which I haven’t used in a long long time. There’s only one user on it and can’t login because I’ve forgotten the password.

So I’m asking what’s the best way to retrieve the windows login?

If you don’t need any of the files stored on the laptop you can just re-format it (you will loose all the data stored on the hard drive). However it’s slightly more complicated if you want to keep those files and gain full access, follow this online tutorial, if it doesn’t work look at the related searches towards the bottom of the page for other methods.

Just boot in any Linux and follow this. There are loads of password reset videos on YouTube. Windows is the same with and without the password! Lol

That’s a very good tutorial @IAmDevil with all the screenshots too.

As per Zoino’s link the file given is utilman.exe which is actually that entire box which opens when you click on that Ease Of Access. You can rename this file as utilman_bak.exe and then copy paste cmd.exe and then rename the second cmd.exe file as utilman.exe and then start Windows and then when you click on Ease Of Access you get the Command Prompt then use the net commands to change the password. :)

I am still wondering why hasn’t Microsoft patched this big loop hole? Are they aware of it? Who knows! :/

Because Microsoft really doesn’t give two shits about security risks that they don’t see as time worthy. A guy mentioned this in a Defcon video, about Denial of Service attacks, where he explained that the reports he sent to Microsoft they didn’t seem to take him too serious. Microsoft Sucks

Somewhere in there if you’re interested…. But now I’m done hating on Microsoft, excuse me, holy shit– that is so so so stupid and yet so clever.
So amazing, so amazing….. thank you @IAmDevil I agree that should be patched but however, who could have missed that? So retarded….

@IAmDevil are you sure this is legit? Many people I have spoken to says its likely a troll post. I don’t use Windows myself so didnt get time to check it out yet

I believe it does work I watched a similar tutorial on YouTube once. The logic is sound. Before you are singed into an account on windows 7, you are already logged into a default account named “system” (which i believe has admin privileges) hence allowing you to change usernames passwords etc.

@Zoino totally correct. I just installed win7 on a VM to test it:

@sabretooth I’m damn sure on that one. I not only saw it but also tested it a ton of times. I first learned it when I was 11, and ever since have been exploiting it. Though Microsoft some what tried to patch it in Win 7 by introducing new Group: SYSTEM which had all the rights of cmd.exe .But still it was shit move because it was exploited again.
Though I havent tried it on Win 8 still. Has anyone? I’m sure its gonna be the same story! Lol

I will check it on my Win 8.1 and will let you all know if it works or not.
