Unsure How to Verify if it's my answers or how I'm typing them

I got the IP right out of the headers (and did a traceroute to verify), then looked up the IP on whois and further did a lookup on the network providers DB to get the name of the host (which I verified as a real host in the UK), and finally got the e-mail simply from the e-mail headers sent to me in the verification.

Seems like this all should be right, but no matter what way I type them I’m getting invalid. Did I do something wrong or should I be trying different combinations?

The “typing issue” has been fixed now, different combinations works, as long as they’re right. So keep investigate, you should have submit something wrong !

Hmm.. Unless I’m misunderstanding the semantics of the questions, I feel like I’m right. A server host is usually a company you pay to host a web server, which I’ve found with high certainty. IP address should be viewable using traceroute (I’ve tried both the final host IP as well as the IP of the proxy server that routes me) and the mail client should be the one that sent me an e-mail unless they use a different one to actually sent out emails as a trick…

Is there anything incorrect with my logic? I feel like if someone were to ask me these questions I’d give the answers I have with quite high certainty, but I may just be misunderstanding what’s really being asked.

Mail client is not the same as mail server (and mail servers for sending mail are not the same as mail servers for reading/storing mail).

Last time I checked the mails you get have no useful info for this challenge.

nmap is also useful for this level. However I got the name of email server from a different way but while working on Level 7 I checked that nmap can be used for this level too to get the answer.

I used nmap to check the mail server (port 25), but the answer I receive back doesn’t work

Also all the ports are filtered using nmap

Did you read my post? You are looking at the wrong server. (also, nmap is only useful if you know nothing about email protocols).

An error message has been added to the level which indicates how many answers you have got correct. Go back and enter your guesses again and it should help you narrow down the problem.
