So I had 3 hairpins I used for lock picking cheap locks for challenge whenever I’m in a waiting room.
I had successfully picked the door to my home, it did something weird rather than opening the door. The cylinder rotated half-way where seemed to stick, but if I rotated a quarter of the way back and then all the way through in a sweep, it didn’t stick. But after giving the full swing, where the door lock should have unlocked, it seemed to reset and didn’t open!
I tried again and rotated half-way, where it sticks. From there, rocking it back and forth doesn’t allow the cylinder to move unless I rotate it back. If I had turned the cylinder swiftly as before, I think it wouldn’t stick. But instead, I tried to pick it again, in this half-way position. It succeeded to “unstuck” this way. After giving the full turn it reseted again and didn’t unlock!
My thoughts where that maybe it this door lock, like other locks around my home, had multiple lock positions where one has to rotate it more than once to pull the lock tab completely out of the wall slot. So I tried repeating picking for 5 times. The cylinder just kept rotating at each picking and the door kept locked.
Eventually, I got into home with the keys of a family folk. I tried to find information on unusual locks or counter-lockpicking mechanisms, but nothing seemed to act as this lock did. Do you know what might be going on?
