I just got done making an app that maybe difficult to do. Basically I made an app where if you are the first to hack into it and tell me how you did it. Then you would of won. At this time you can win $25, but you need a PayPal account. (I feel PayPal is one of the safest ways I can give you the prize money)

Anyways, below is a link to the app.

I commend your efforts to make an app. I would not pay for an app that MAY get me some money however. I would prefer begging on the side of the street.

I’m no where near begging for money. I figure I could use this as a learning tool. Plus calling this begging is calling any contest that you have to pay to enter begging.

Hypothetically, if this got popular the prize could be a hell lot higher than I could ever afford on my own. This in itself would bring some of the best out, and it would show me some major weak points within apps. In return, I can make sure my app are more secure.

He didn’t say you were begging. He said he would prefer begging (and rightly so).

If it had to be called anything, it would probably be ‘scam’. Paying $5 without having any guarantee that it isn’t a scam or that the app is even remotely hackable is crazy. Even more so when all there is to win is $25. That really makes no sense.

Also the “it’s a learning tool” argument makes little sense. If you are trying to learn from us, then why in the hell are we paying you for it?

Really want to learn? Put it up for free. Big chance you get free advice, which is quite a good deal considering what you would normally have to pay in a commercial setting for such services.

@Dloser
The reason why I have the rate at $5 is because before taxes, 5 people would equal to $5. So I would automatically be able to make it $50 (if taxes didn’t take anything). It’s like any other contest. The more people that tries, the higher the prize. The higher the prize, the quicker it will be hacked.
The reason why the prize is $25 is because what if the first person who downloaded it is able to hack it within 5 minutes.

As far as the guarantee. I’m not really sure how I can show I’m being honest.

BTW, if this turns out to be a hit and it takes more than a week to hack. Then there will be more contest in the future (that’s why it says 1 at the end of this app)

Yeah… I understood your “maths”; it doesn’t change anything about what I said.

You have no way to guarantee anything, but that doesn’t matter. Even if you could, it would still be stupid to pay you the $5. The only one this whole deal makes sense for is you. That is the problem.

@dloser

So is the problem the prize isn’t high enough, or the cost is way to high? If the cost is way to high, then the lowest I could make it is $1.

(I’m trying to figure this one out because others maybe thinking the same)

How about $0? That’s the maximum I’m willing to pay some shady guy from the internet.

So basically you don’t want the pot to grow, and you want free money (because as far as I know it could take someone 5 seconds to break it).

Hopefully others won’t feel the same way.

Hahaha.. nice reversal. I bet you went to school and asked the teachers for money as well. “But sir! Don’t you want the pot to grow???” Good one.
