Repo not fully matching code in use

I noticed that the repository did not fully match the content served from the site, nor any historical commits. Is this intented/part of the challenge?

Found the same and created a ticket for it: https://defendtheweb.net/help/contact/35

Eventually I found the solution, but I don’t think it ultimately makes sense given the code.
