Now I know you are like “But waz XP is old as dirt!” yes yes I know it is but here is a cool way to get pass and admin password.

http://www.wikihow.com/Log-on-to-Windows-XP-Using-the-Default-Blank-Administrator-Password

When I was younger I did use this trick to get on my moms XP to use the net (I am sure you can guess what i wanted to look at) but it was easy to do and hey you never know you might run into something to use this on. As far as I know they did fix this after XP if I am wrong sorry. Anywho happy hunting’s.

-If there is a post already bout this sorry-

I’m not sure if I understand what you want, but you can boot with ubuntu for example and modify the login screen, so that you can start the cmd from there. You will have System right with the cmd so you should be able to do what ever you want..

And by the way, I think Windows XP is quite good, better then Vista and runs pretty nice ;)

I know you were asking for a solution without a boot-CD, but nevertheless perhaps take a look at kon-boot: http://www.piotrbania.com/all/kon-boot/
Have fun!

heheh my brother told me this trick some years ago, it’s pretty cool and easy to use :P. Had a girl from my class who used XP, so we changed her password, just for the fun of it ;D (it was so much fun hehe).

hey guys, it’s my first time on the site and the forum, i’m a computer engineer and telecommunications engineer.
i’ve come across this a few times, if i had a dollar for every time a client would say , can you help me i’ve locked myself out of my computer , LOL, funny stuff,
so here are the fixes.
as already mentioned you can get a password recovery disk, which is effectively hacking the system from a linux platform
thereby you can modify the password file and your in.
or…
you can use your default users and passwords
we should all know this , but for the benefit of those who don’t
in the format of username password they are

admin admin
Admin Admin
ADMIN ADMIN
admin password
admin passwd
Admin Password
Admin Passwd

that’s for all the people who could not be bothered to change it.

now there is an easier way to login to windows XP, only works sometimes ,…. not sure why

you can press CTRL ALT DEL 3 times in succession and you will be brought to login to the root administrator account

the username is administrator
the password is password
sometimes there is no password, but you need to type administrator

that’s from my experience 13years
my experience dates back to the days of commodore 64 BASIC LOL
cool huh
hope this helps someone

i suppose i should also mention this.
all of the above comments that i made, are in a way, hacking,
but let’s get real..

this is really really really basic dodo stuff, that everyone should know
so there is no point getting all excited if your able to hack in past XP’s login screen

i believe this should be a requirement of anybody who feels the need to call themselves a technician,
i base this on the foundation that …
because clients pay us for a service, and that happens to be unlocking their systems because they forgot the password.

or their son, got pissed off at the parents and then locked them out of it.
there’s nothing illegal, if the owner of the system has requested to regain access to their own system.

I’ve been doing this for years.

this is really not a big deal

@kabue
mate, just for a laugh, since you brought back a memory for me.

USE THIS WISELY

back in the 80’s i learnt a little command line trick
so i went to dicksmith and did on their computers.

we had to be quick ,
you see the computers were close to the entrance of the store, so you could walk up to one on display and just start playing with it.

now the thing was this.
there is a command that will delete the entire directory structure of the C Drive

what you do is you access (at that time, DOS SHELL)
you type

DELTREE C:/
You Hit ENTER

it will prompt you , are you sure
you hit Y for yes

and what happens is… the poor salesman in the store who had the computer loaded with windows 95 on display , all of sudden has a black screen. LOL this was funny when we were 13, but also cruel.

you can try this in a windows shell
open it. type tree
and your entire directory will be shown to you.

so logically DELTREE C:/
means DEL means Delete
so it means delete the Tree directory of the C Drive, this command includes all subdirectories, ESSENTIALLY YOU WILL WIPE YOUR HARD DRIVE CLEAN.

after this … just to finish up
when techies formatted computers
we had the convenience of F DISK
which came included on the windows 98 setup disk

this allowed you to do a wide range of stuff, like formatting , partitioning etc..
so.. the need for DELTREE became obsolete

and after XP came in. and floppy drives went out.
we now obviously no longer need FDISK either

because the windows installation takes care of it all.

anyway, that’s a trip down memory lane…enjoy

Glad I brought you back down memory lane, always fun to visit the good ol' days ^_^.
Already knew about DELTREE C:/, but yea as you said, it’s waaay too cruel for me to use hehe, but always nice to be able to use it, if i decide on it one day ;).
Definitely sounds like you and your friends had some fun teenage years :D.
But yea, still love the small pranks, like closing the explorer.exe proces or on login screen, turn on the high contrast, magnifyer, screen keyboard and stuff like that (can really make your computer look f***** hehe).
(sorry for off topic)
