this level is seriously pissing me off.
used nmap to scan open ports
used telnet to connect to open ports, but all I get is a blank screen (indicating the port is open according to google)
have tried just about every combination of flags for nmap that I think may help (-A -sV -sW -v -vv)
wtf am I missing?

I’m also really stuck. It seems like maybe all the information we need is actually in the nmap scan result and that I am just not seeing what is in front of me… but maybe I am wrong and we need to do a further scan on individual ports? This is all new stuff to me so already excited but a bit overloaded just learning to use nmap!
Check the manual. There is some key information in there that might explain why you are stuck.
(There is another possible mistake, but you shouldn’t be making that one after the previous level. Although @dutchman24 might be a counterexample… :P)
It was my way of trying to hint towards your recent post. Apparently, I kind of misread it causing me to think you made that same mistake. Sorry. :)
@_simple_sam: Please edit some of your posts because they practically give out the solution.
I don’t understand something.
Do people want us to give the solution ?
Other thread tell you A LOT about that level…
You know that you have to scan the server so keep searching and you’ll find :)

Never give up on this one
Maybe you will find the solution reading this
Always check the address you are scanning
Possible you will find a suspicious service
Trigger the service using basic commands
And the answer will appear
Retry if you don’t find it
Give up means falling down before the finish line
Every phrase can start with a hint
There is nothing I can do more to help
