Hi there. Is this Forum new? I thought to myself that I would like to read the HackThis forum and lo and behold there it was… thing is I can’t remember if it was here all the time?

Anyway. I am hammerhead. My favorite tool is I guess BackTrack5. I say this because it is the only hacking tool I have ever used really. I know of course that backtrack is a version of Ubuntu so I am of course talking about the specific programs on it that enabled my to crack my own WEP password that I set up (for educational purposes). I am really what the community would call a script kiddie really. I don’t like being so, but I am working on it. Thing is I am only learing Java at the moment. And javascript and php….

My question is :- what other cool tools are out there, and what can they do!?!

btw - if the forum is new then I love it! (if it is not new then I do not love myself :(

Hello and thank you for the kind words. Yes the forum is new, only been live for a few days.

If you like using BackTrack then you should have a look at www.backbox.org. It is a linux distribution based on Ubuntu just like BackTrack, there is just something that I like about it more than BT.

You are quite right indeed. If I am to be guilty of an offence, it is that I call “things” by their incorrect names. Which is a good point for you to high light in fact. Because, what would make a good hacker from a bad one basically is that the good hacker will know the terms and names that are given to object and programs in the world they want to excel in… ie - hacking!

Some people see nitpicking as a bad thing… I think it is an excellent feature of a person!

@flabby How did you choose run Backbox? Live USB, cd, vm, or just have your hd partitioned?
