so…… i’m going to give you a very blunt and honest answer…. here i go.
first of all, i don’t like the use the term Hacker or Hacking, because in all honesty, it sounds like we are pulling our Dicks are little bit too hard, (if you know what i mean)
at the end of the day, it also comes down to … What you mean by your definition of hacking.
you’ve seen the youtube videos, You have stupid things like “how to hack your modem” and then you see some guy showing you how to access the properties tab of your network adapter to simply change the IP Address.
or some guy showing you how to type in “ipconfig” into command line. Stupid stuff like that. and they call that hacking.
in my opinion and definition, Hacking is only hacking when you bypass some level of security, regardless of how minor.
and then it’s a question of what did you actually do, obviously… accessing a person’s modem by typing in username admin and password password, is technically hacking, But , let’s not get too excited just yet, because , the only reason you got in, was because the user was not smart enough to changed the login credentials.
in saying that, credit has to be given to you the technician how has had the knowledge to google, “modem brand eg. netgear”
netgear modem default passwords.
every bit of information and knowledge deserves praise. Learning is Learning, and knowledge deserves respect.
Then you have these idiots how call themselves hackers.
and all they do is just cause shit, and destruction to some poor pensioner who can’t afford $80 for a technician call out fee.
now i ask you, What benefit does one have to hack a pensioner. LOL (see what i mean)
and for the record, these idiots are not actually HACKERS to begin. They are referred to a Crackers.

Real Hackers work as a team, real hackers work for the benefit of the human race, for the progression of knowledge and moving forward as an intelligent species.
Real hackers have an issue with anyone who hinders the progression of knowledge, a classic example is the Linux Community VS Apple.
(a bit of trivia for you…)
if you go into Linux (depending on the Distro) you will either come across the BSH (bourne Shell) or the BASH (bourne again Shell)
this is linux command line interface and has been since the late 70’s to my knowledge
now.. go into terminal in Leopard or snow leopeard and Viola, you will find the BASH (bourne again Shell)
see.. the BASH was created to be the foundation of an open source operating system
Apple took it, put their own Operating system on it (Closed Source) and now charges to the effect of $3000 for a machine,
it wasn’t theirs to begin with. that’s the same as stealing..
so you see why the Unix/Linux Community are pissed at apple .
the point being, Apple hinders the progression of free information, as does microsoft.

I’m not an experienced programmer (or as you call it a hacker),
What i am is a Very Experienced Network/Computer Engineer
I’m also a Telecommunications Technician
i work for myself, i work with computer’s, networks (from small to enterprise), i can fix anything in any network environment.
i install TV Antenna’s, Complex MATV systems, i install Satellite Dishes, i work on Telephony systems , from a T.O. to large Main Distribution Frames, i am an experienced internet marketer (for the last 4 years only), i make a very good income from it.
i build websites.
now.. between all that (i’ve been exposed to HTML, PHP, and CSS)
Hacking as you call it, is also new to me, and the reason why i joined this site is……
because what we are learning here it how to understand code, How to implicate it, (not to be used for harmful causes)
eg. whenever i go to a client’s house, to troubleshoot their internet. and then ask, What’s you modem username and password,
90% of the time, they say, Ohh, i don’t know.
BINGO…. That just bluntly says to me, they’ve never changed it, nor do they know how to , Hence , it’s default.
i then make a point of saying.. “Watch this Now”
and i will explain to the client step by step, what i’m doing, and that is the following
go to cmd prompt, type ipconfig
get the gateway ip address then punch that into a browser.
i then stop and pause, and give them a speech about how this is the intended protection for the modem.
i then go ahead and punch in Admin.. Password
and it opens up.
i then make them understand that i could do a lot of damage if i wanted to .
i then get them to change the password to secure the router.
i look at all this stuff as knowledge, NOTHING MORE.
i then think of how i can use that knowledge to benefit others and myself.
Let’s take PHREAKNIG (i’m not a big one for glorifying things with names) as far am i’m concerned Phreaking is just a cool name, made up to describe, Accessing a system over a Phone line.
so.. if i was to go in the pit in the street now, and hook up my Butt Phone to someone elses phone line and make a call. (hence it would be charged to their bill)
do we call the phreaking…. Technically , YES WE DO.
But once again, … Let’s not get too excited over something as simple as hooking aligator clips onto a phone line and dialing a number. Anyone can buy a but phone for $300.
now what i’m trying to get at here is this . it’s cool and interesting to learn how to implicate and use systems for various reasons.
and you’ve made it very clear that you understand that.
and it’s great that you say that your committed,
now.. no disrespect intended, but saying and doing are two different things…. totally
moving forward, i found it funny when you said, You know this stuff pretty well, but you dont' understand it , and you need help LOL how does that make sense (sorry i couldn’t help myself) LOL

This is my recommendation to you.
1. (don’t take it personally), but … to be involved in I.T. (hacking, whatever you want to call it.) denotes intelligence, therefore you should pay attention to your spelling and grammar to begin with, lack of this shows laziness, hence lack of committment. to the art.
- i understand that you keen and want to becomes someones apprentice, but you need to understand that i’m really really busy.
and it makes sense , because if i wasn’t i would not have a very good income, nor would i have the experience you need to learn from.
so.. what i’m trying to say is this . I’m committed to myself, and i’ve got an apprentice that’s local.
i am willing to teach you , over skype. or whatever, HOWEVER IT NEEDS TO BE UNDERSTOOD THAT I CAN ONLY DO IT WHEN I HAVE THE TIME.
After all, Your not paying me for it, and i’m cool with that, (but just so you understand, if i was to take you on fulltime as an apprentice for free, to teach 40hours per week, you would be taking away a large portion of my income, and i charge my time at $320 per hour)
so it has to be when i’m available.
Further to that , I’m happy to help anybody, Which is why i posted this on the forum and not to you personally.

in a nutshell
I’m not a hacker, i can’t teach you to hack (the way you’ve envisioned it in your head)
i can teach you what i know.
i can teach you how HTML and PHP, SQL , DOS CLI,BASH,
i can’t you C, C+, C++ C# etc.. i don’t know them, However you can learn that stuff yourself,
i can even shoot you a document to learn from.
that’s how i learnt PHP, i downloaded a torrent PHP for dummies. and it all starts there.
i can teach you how to test.
i can teach you to understand HTML and test your results. eg.
i can teach you to setup a virtual server (assuming your running windows OS) and not windows Server OS.
i can teach you to setup a webpage on your local machine (http://localhost)
i can show you IIS7 and IIS8 or Apache if you wish.
you can then have a play with HTML.
the first lesson obviously being, after setting up the server
create a root
create and index.php file, save it as .txt
and type in things like
it works
or
HELLO WORLD
OR
HELLO WORLD
and see what the output is when you go and view that in a browser,
in doing this stuff, you will have a graphic representation and understanding of what is going on when you view source code.
so in lesson 1 it won’t all be garble to you.
and it’s really not that hard to understand.
Here’s your first lesson on coding
HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) Unlike binary, is designed to be readable by humans , as well as being understandable to a computer and web browser.
whereas binary is designed to be used as machine code (research Machine code, in google) , as a computer’s native language
while your at it, research “Assembly languages”
Assembly languages are the interpreters between the machine code and user. Hence, the user does not understand binary,
the machine does not understand english.
the Assembly language understands binary and english and interprets machine code for us.
binary is a computer’s native language, however, to the human mind, and the way we store information, binary is inefficient.
, that’s all good and fair, but you need to play with HTML to understand it better.
