Not sure how much this may or may not be a spoiler so…

[s]… Removed …[/s]

Hoping to re-energize the conversation a bit on the forum around this problem.

Thanks,
Michael

Yep… I’d call that a spoiler.

Too much, should I edit? Also, your insight is very helpful. =/

If you ask me, I say remove the whole thing. You seem to have the right ingredients, but just don’t know how to use them.

Thanks. I removed spoilers but left the thread.

Is it enough to solve this with tools like ImagicMagic, StegSolve, and/or Steganabara or should I beattacking it from a more code level perspective?

Also, general Q on the topic. I know are a few articles on this site and @IAmDevil linked to http://caesum.com/handbook/contents.htm, but do you have any more recommendations on resources that would be useful?

Thanks,
Michael

Not really too familiar with the tools you mentioned; I usually just code my own stuff. Also not a big book/whatever guy.

I know, I know… I’m useless. :)

Michael I know you can do it using tools on caesum ^^

@dloser Better to know what you don’t know then to not know what you don’t know, you know?

@Mugiwara27 Thanks. I pull that thread for a bit. Working with StegSolve and Steganabara.

Am I going for the image itself to reveal the info or the resulting HEX/LSB?

Appreciate the insight!

Yes might be possible to do with the tools as I’m still trying to get to something usefull. Now just have to figure out what colors should be filtered and the rest I know I suppose! :)

How do I use StegSolve or rather how do I open that software or install it. Steganabara is .jar file which opens using Java but no idea how to start StegSolve. Can someone help.

Pretty sure that should also be a .jar file.

Oh I am sorry I mixed both. StegSolve is actually a .jar file and works fine but that other one Steganabara is a tar.gz file. I have extracted the files and folders from it but don’t know how to start it. There are 3 folders in it “bin”, “docs” and “src” and one file “javadoc.xml”.

Also just out of curiosity do we need to rote the image and put the white side down and the black side on top. Usually the chess boards are that way but in this way it’s inverse.

And is hex editor not required at all for this level? I had to initially use it to get the other image. Is there a need for it later on in the level.

You have to find that out through trial and error (or observation). There is a set of logical steps that you will need to follow to solve this one.

My psychic abilities tell me you are trying to run a Linux program on Windows, tl0tr.

I am using Linux at the moment. Can you tell me the command to run steganabara-1.1.1.tar.gz from linux. :D

Hi @dalfor

So if I miss any step then will I not be able to complete this level at all.

Guess that’s a good lesson about psychics. :)

You probably have the source then. If I google steganabara I get .jar files (and a dead link to 1.1.0.tar.gz).
