Command Line Levels | Defend the Web

We should have Command line levels.

You could make levels that are like a Command Prompt/Terminal program embedded into each level and you have to hack it using the commands from Command Prompt or Terminal.

Hopefully this made sense.

There is an announcement about new version of HackThis. Maybe it doesn’t include more levels this time but I believe the administrators will work their ass off to bring something new and interesting soon. :D

I think it would be fun, however, correct me if I’m wrong, but the command prompt is old school, and isn’t really used anymore, I think more SQLi levels would be better instead.

Yeah, I know it’s old school, but you can still apply the knowledge. Not to mention you can still use it for basic stuff and for computer-side stuff like gaining administrator on a computer.

And we could just have the CLI level with different operating systems CLI code and use it that way?

This isn’t a half bad idea. teaching people how to use bash. but you may also want to add tools in to help them discover how things inside terminal actually work. since most *nix os’s have the same commands in terminal, it should be pretty simple.

Actually, the main problem of all the levels is how to build a safe, secure playground for hackers attempting to hack. They can do whatever they want in that playground, but not further.

@freewind1012 yeah… not really much of a problem… flash games… one can write up a simple flash game. pretty simple if you ask me.

Well, I myself prefer the real playground, but… who knows? Maybe the administrators will seriously consider your suggestions. :p
