Hey,

For my school project I need to make a presatation about programming, and I would like some links or something to some info about the history of programming (Inventers of the first programming language, etc). Thanks in advance!

Here’s some zaazy shit to throw at your teacher! Especially if she’s a female you’re good.

The first compiler was developed by a woman! Her name is was Grace Hopper. Yes, was! She was born December 9, 1906 and died January 1, 1992. She was in the army and navy, and shortly after her compiler led to the “first” programming language, COBOL.

Here’s a sexy picture of the young pioneer!

Also maybe throw in some stuff about the birth of the web

http://www.w3.org/People/Raggett/book4/ch02.html
http://home.web.cern.ch/topics/birth-web

Here’s the first website ever, inspect the source code, it looks different from todays syntax. Looks like they favored ALL CAPS in their tags lol.

http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html

and Here’s what it was like to use an line-mode browser with the “Line-mode Simulator”
http://line-mode.cern.ch/www/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html

I posted the birth of the web stuff in a previous post if you’d like to search for it and get more info there.
I’d also suggest a couple of things. Research these terms and include info in chronological order of what I post in the bullets below.
[] The stuff from above of course in more depth
[
] Machine Code
[] Binary
[
] Hexadecimal
[] Decimal
[
] ASCII
[] Assembly Language
[
] Assembler
[] Compiler
[
] Programming Language
[] Markup-Language
[
] Low Level Programming
[] High Level Programming
[
] Software
[] Malicious and Productive use of code
[
] Examples of different Programming Languages and what they do
More than likely a guaranteed ‘A’ if not enough info

Include termonolgy, how these things all intertwine, and cite your sources, etc. Wouldn’t include us as a source lol. Also, may want to rethink some personal morals/reality and do a lot of research on anything in life you cross to make sure information isn’t bias or fraud. Just a friendly tip of advice from someone with a lot of life and computer experience. lol Good Luck Brotha! Give HT Feedback on the final product and result of the grading. I’d love to see what you pull off.

I agree with freewind! I’d also like to see such a presentation. Sounds very entertaining! :)
This is, of course, considering it’s done in English.

Good luck with the presentation!

Check out George Boole http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Boole. He is considered the “father” of computing. His name is where boolean came from. How much do you know about programming?

Off Topic, but if you want to share presentations use http://www.slideshare.net/ it’s quite nice.

@Jarno slideshare supports Powerpoint (pdf, ppt, pps, pptx, ppsx, pot, potx) and OpenOffice (odp) as well as a lot of other formats.

I believe this’ll be helpful for you: http://www.infoq.com/articles/infoq-user-survey-results-2012
You could also check out the history of programming languages (chronology of their appearance), i.e. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_programming_languages.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programming_languages
