Some suggestions for the site.

These are only my thoughts, tell me what you think. They are:

A HT notebook, say someone has completed a level, and they want a reminder of how they did it, they’ll take a note of each step. And the notebook would only be for stuff relating to computers, the user selects a certain category. I was thinking of having “Notes” in the More section in the navigation bar.

Next is styles, when a white text link is hovered, maybe make the font a green or lime color?

If you don’t mind the extra text, you can always use the Intermediate5 log as notebook :D

But yeah, it might be a good idea.

As for styling, i pretty much like how things are right now. But you could always make a style on Stylish (add-on for chrome) or something similar for HackThis, if you are so inclined. There, you can change pretty much everything on the page. The way Stylish works is that it adds a custom CSS to the site, after loading it on your computer. And that CSS is stored on some server, so that others can use your style if they want, as well.

Ok, fair enough. :D

I just think it would be quicker if there was a note thing on HT.

What’s wrong with pen and paper or a text editor on your computer?

Personally I don’t think this will be of any use.

I didn’t say anything was wrong with it.

A while ago we thought about having a pastebin style service integrated into the site, which would have worked well for what you are suggesting. However there are so many other services that offer this that it didn’t seem worth the effort as it would not be bringing anything new to the table. However thanks for the suggestions, they are always very welcome :)

no countdown. this site is mainly for learning not for competition. at least in my opinion.

a countdown would only lead to more Youtube tutorials or spam in forum until sb tells you the solution. this is not what HT is there for!

The current level timer is a compromise towards your suggestion. There were two problems when thinking about timing levels; firstly there has been over 1,000,000 levels completed already and all of these would miss out on the feature … how would you make it fair? Secondly it is the concern raised above about people being more inclined to cheat simply so they can complete the levels as quickly as possible. Completely against the educational ethos of the site. This is why the current non-public level timer allows people to challenge themselves and discuss with other if they so desire.

Yeah, I see your point. I’ve deleted my post. :D

I think I’ll just focus on my own sites from now on, lol.

@Hybrid71 don’t beat yourself about it. It was an idea :) It was not a good idea, but sometimes good ideas come out of lesser ones :)
