So I’m sure many of you have probably heard of or have used the TOR browser, but I haven’t seen any references to it on here so I thought I might post it on here for your interest.

For anyone interested here’s a link to some information on it, which also includes a download of it.
https://www.torproject.org/

Enjoy :)

Yeah, I only recently found out about it. But its a great tool so far already, and since its based on firefox it’s really easy to just pick up and use.

Also another thing, which it great is it will allow you to access the .onion sites or the “deep net” which you can find some interesting information around.

Yeah, FF is an awesome browser, but I honestly prefer chrome more. And yeah there’s heaps of different names for it for some reason…

Yeah @tlotr definitely check it. Its something that is worth giving time.
Firefox also has a Linux variant called Ice weasel.

@ANONRA I didn’t seem to have any problems with messing around. I just downloaded it, installed it onto my usb, and it was done.

@tlotr Anytime :)

Speaking of Linux I’m pretty sure they have a Linux based OS called Tails which seems to force all of the internet through there system making it anonymous. Haven’t had a look into it yet but will have to certainly give it a look soon.

I’d recommend using something like Tails if you want full anonymity, because you can be traced when using the TOR browser, as some of your applications may not go through TOR when your connecting to sites. e.g. your DNS request may go out through your normal interface.

But this is just paranoia, if you want to browse dark net then this is more than enough. Though I’d recommend using iptables or similar to force all connections through TOR. :) Or use a VPN as ANONRA said.

Ah might have to take a look at iptables, sounds interesting.

iptables is a firewall for Linux. You can use it to drop, forward and accept packets based on specific parameters, such as UDP, TCP, destination port, source port and so on.

Ah nice, thanks for that :)

Here guys maybe watch this first and then see what’s up. I personally don’t trust TOR, sadface. I have a lot of internet trust issues. Anywho, my mate in Australia showed me this guy a minute ago…

IP Tables is amazing @Osaka ! I do wish there was a firewall for linux that did things on its own and detected attacks without me having to constantly look for them. I mean at least until I get an efficient workstation where I can then place another monitor on my wall and write a few simple scripts to monitor all my network activity. Ahhhhh, I can only imagine it. It’ll be going all day long and look soooo cyber punk. Hey, anyone else use tshark instead of wireshark? I prefer textual interfaces when it comes to programming and security opposed to graphics and was wondering if anyone likes the tshark output better as well. If you haven’t tried it it’s the same as wiresharks output just more abbreviations and nerdy. I love it….

For the command line I normally use tcpdump and pipe the output around.

I think there should be a cool log, network monitor system, which is just designed to be run on a screen 24/7. There are things like splunk and log io but they are meh.

Though I do feel like I’m going a little of-topic.
